Bailey Cheshire

MA, LMFTA. (any pronoun) Individual, Relational, and Sex Therapist

I am a systemic therapist who approaches my clients with curiosity and compassion. I strive to provide a therapeutic space that is judgment free, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed. Wherever we go, we’ll go together and at your pace. While all issues of sexual health are welcome in my treatment room, I particularly enjoy working with issues of gender exploration, sexuality, and alternative relationship structures.

What You Can Expect

I am a collaborative therapist who believes my clients are the experts in their own lives. I bring expertise around relationships, communication and boundaries, stuck patterns, bodily attunement, and trauma that may help you start to shift from the problem that brought you to seek therapy. We’ll work together to set realistic and practical goals and intentionally work towards them. I use approaches that focus on emotional understanding and bodily attunement through Polyvagal Theory. Historically, I have used Emotion-Focused Therapy and Attachment Theory to guide my practice, but I am currently shifting toward Internal Family Systems. Through these modalities, I work to create a safe space where you can unpack the challenges of everyday life.

My Story

I was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon, and moved to Seattle for my Master’s program in 2020. The book ‘Pleasure Activism’ by adrienne maree brown (intentionally lower-case) was my awakening to the liberation that is available through deepening our relationship with sexuality. The book taught me that owning the most authentic version of myself is itself a form of resistance. Since then, I have continued to practice a sense of curiosity toward myself and others that makes space for ongoing changes in how we see ourselves and the world around us.

Interests

Outside of the therapy room, you can catch me spending time with my loved ones (including my dog, Alfie and tuxedo cat, Mack), practicing yoga, reading, embroidering, playing video games, or enjoying the flowers at Pike Place Market.
