Dorian [Marissa Stein]

MS, LMHCA (they/them) Sex, Gender, & Relationship Therapist

I am a holistic and integrative sex therapist who looks at sex therapy through a systemic Liberation Psychology, Queer Theory, and Feminist Theory lens. Harm reduction is important to me. I endeavor to do my best to do anti-oppression work that is trauma informed. I offer a welcoming space where you are supported in being your authentic self. I am body-neutral (health at every size), kink competent, affirmative of consensual non-monogamy (polyamory, swinging, relationship anarchy, open relationships, etc.), neuro-inclusive, sex worker friendly, with a focus on LGBTGEQIAP+ populations and those who love us. I believe that every person deserves to enjoy a life free from shame.

What You Can Expect

I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where each client feels safe enough to explore vulnerability, is challenging enough to support growth, and rooted in the belief that a client’s uniqueness is inherently valuable. People deserve to be seen, heard, and deeply known. This is how I view the world, and how I approach sessions with those seeking to explore themselves and their relationship with others.

My practice is holistic, relational, integrative, and individualized. I view therapy through the bio-psycho-social model, and am especially interested in the mind-body connection. Because of this I often utilize embodiment exercises and work with polyvagal theory, and other somatic therapies. My approach is relational, and can sometimes be directive when that is right for the individual client. As an autistic therapist I can be rather blunt and to the point, which is something that many clients enjoy about me. While I have education and training, I respect that you are the expert of your own experience and I do my best to create a space where you feel supported in your own individual journey.

My Story

I endeavor to do my best to do anti-oppression work that is trauma informed as I believe every person deserves to enjoy their life free from shame and oppression. I am a non-binary, transgender, neuroqueer (autistic and ADHD), kinky and queer-identified witch, who manages chronic pain and disability; given these lived experiences, I have felt the impact of marginalization. As a white person, I do my best to be aware of my own privilege and biases as part of dominant euro-centric descendant culture.  I enjoy working with clients who desire more satisfying, fulfilling, and shame-free sex lives. Kinky folx, disabled folx, those who are exploring their gender and/or sexual orientation, those who are experiencing sexual difficulties and disappointments, those who have experienced trauma or have been negatively affected by relational abuse or toxicity, and those who are working to move past shame that has been reinforced by outside sources such as family, religion, or other societal or cultural pressures are welcome. During my master’s internship I worked primarily with transgender individuals, those who have been marginalized due to being part of the LGBTQ2SAI+ populations, and those who are part of consensually non-monogamous relationships.

Interests

As an autistic person I have deeply rooted special interests, and as someone with ADHD I gather new interests whenever something pulls my attention. I am an artist, performer, avid gardener, and occultist. I am a dog mama and a plant daddi, and have a particular love of carnivorous, poisonous, and entheogenic plants and fungi.
